After a year or more of illness I'm now feeling good and back to work with avengence!
Lambing started this weekend, and calving got off to a good start with a little Bull calf, a bit before time being born, and looking good.
The weather which left us snowed in for three weeks has cleared leaving a milder climate in which we can work well for the time of year.
The men have been busy preparing pens in the sheds, and putting gates to right, as well as installing a new gated system at Nantleach, so the pesky ewes who get turned out with their lambs can't keep coming back down to the sheds to steal more sheep cake!
For those who don't know we are not butchering much meat now as Waitrose are buying all of our Welsh Black Cattle, and we will be doing only the third market every month at Aberystwyth.
Out Last TB test before Christmas gave us four inconclusive results, and when the four were tested again last week, it appears sadly that they are reading as having Tb although this test is only 70% accurate they will have to go to be killed. One of them is our prize bull which we paid £3000 for

Glad you are feeling better!
You say not 'much butchering' although you are still doing Aber once a month? Can we still get hold of your wonderful lamb and great rib eye steaks - please? Being trying the local butchers but good as they are generally theirs is no match for yours on taste!
